HEINZ EMIGHOLZ ON ARCHITECTURE AND FILM
My work as a filmmaker involves presenting a three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface, which means deconstructing it into filmic perspectives and reconstructing it to create a complete work. From this perspective, manipulating the camera is an architectural act. It leads one to meditate on what architecture is, was, or could be. But to let that happen, the images must be separated from the words. This is because the fundamental stories that images tell us are not composed of words and sentences, but of spaces, surfaces, and the relationship between them. Those are the components of architectural experience.
