The collection presentation on the upper floor of the Art Nouveau building will be completely re-curated from November 12, 2021, and will then be dedicated to the focal points of the Mannheim museum's collection history since its founding in 1909. In the east wing, the Kunsthalle is showing works from the New Objectivity to the Nouveaux Réalistes. Paintings, sculptures and installations by artists such as Otto Dix, Max Beckmann, George Grosz, Daniel Spoerri, Niki de Saint Phalle, Pierre Soulages and Francis Bacon are on display in four rooms. In the west wing, the Kunsthalle presents works from Expressionism to Abstraction by Marc Chagall, Lovis Corinth, Emil Nolde, Wilhelm Lehmbruck, Umberto Boccioni, Willi Baumeister, Robert Delaunay, Paul Klee, and László Moholy-Nagy, among others, and also highlights the results of provenance research at the Kunsthalle.
